1st Focus Homecare offers a comprehensive and adaptable range of home care services across the Edinburgh area. Home care, often referred to as domiciliary care, encompasses a variety of support services tailored to meet individual needs. Our offerings include assistance with daily activities such as washing, dressing, meal preparation, and even live-in care.
Each individual’s care requirements are unique, and our services are designed to reflect this. Some clients may only need help with specific tasks, like getting in and out of bed, while others may require continuous live-in care. If you or your loved ones are in need of home care services, we’re here to help.
At 1st Focus Homecare, we develop personalised care plans centred around your specific needs. Every customer receives a customised care and support plan tailored to their requirements. After the initial contact, we prefer to meet with all our clients in person, at a time that suits you, to discuss your needs in detail. This meeting, held in the comfort of your own home, helps us understand how much of your care you can manage independently. We’ll explore the daily tasks we can assist with, address your health needs, and discuss your expectations from a home care provider.

At 1st Focus Homecare, we provide a comprehensive range of home care services tailored to meet the needs of you or your loved ones. As we age, some individuals require assistance to continue enjoying everyday life. While moving into residential care is an option for some, others may prefer to stay in their own homes. Though residential care offers numerous benefits, these can often be mirrored through home care services, allowing individuals to remain in their familiar surroundings. Care needs vary based on the individual and any health conditions they may have. Our home care services are designed to help you or your loved one stay within the community, close to family and friends, and maintain as much independence as possible.
Home care services can range from personal care and support to respite care for family members, or even live-in care for those seeking an alternative to residential care. One significant advantage of home care is the one-on-one attention it provides, in contrast to the higher carer-to-service-user ratio typically found in care homes. We believe that our home care services offer a viable alternative to care homes, providing peace of mind for everyone involved.
For many families, organising home care can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to understanding the costs involved. While local councils offer their own care services, we believe that 1st Focus Homecare delivers a premium service in comparison.
At 1st Focus Homecare, we can assist you or your loved one in arranging care through the local authority. Depending on your needs assessment, you may qualify for financial support from the local council, which could cover some or even all of the associated costs. We can provide guidance on direct payments and help you determine whether home care is an affordable alternative to residential care.
We’re here to discuss the costs involved and arrange a thorough assessment of your care needs. While care costs can sometimes seem high, we understand that many individuals can manage certain aspects of their own care. Our goal is to ensure that those who use our services remain as independent as possible, without feeling pressured into paying for more care than necessary.
Once your needs assessment is complete, we can develop a tailored care plan and arrange for a carer or personal assistant. If you require emergency care or if your family members need respite care, we’re also here to help arrange those services.
Home care agencies in the UK typically charge between £20 and £35 per hour. These services, often referred to as domestic or in-home care, are generally more cost-effective than residential care, depending on the individual’s assessed care needs. At 1st Focus Homecare our prices start from £30 per hour.
In Scotland, individuals over 65 are entitled to free personal care and housing support, depending on their needs assessment. This support can range from a brief 15-minute medication prompt to longer visits, such as two carers per visit, with the maximum usually being four one-hour visits per day.
A 24-hour care package can be structured in two ways. The first is a ‘sleeping night,’ where the caregiver stays overnight in their own room and is available for emergencies. The second option is a ‘waking night,’ where the caregiver is awake and provides ongoing care throughout the night, often necessary for individuals with conditions like Alzheimer’s, who may need frequent assistance or comfort during nighttime hours. Get in touch with us at 1st Focus Homecare and we can help you decide what is best suited for your needs.
