Alan Morkill House is a residential home with care provided through 49 individual studio flats, designed for the elderly and those with dementia. Each one of our residents enjoys unique, personalised care, built around them and designed to make their stay with us as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible. It is located opposite North Kensington Memorial Park, with Ladbroke Grove and Portobello being nearby.
Rooms are arranged into seven groups with a shared sitting room and kitchen for each group, encouraging residents to get to know each other. 35 rooms have en-suite WC facilities. An array of daily social activities are provided to keep residents active such as arts & crafts, baking & cooking, dancing and music, exercise and fitness classes, gardening and flower arranging, film nights and many more.

A dedicated Activities Co-ordinator creates a daily activity program, in conjunction with residents requests and personal areas of interest. These can be scheduled throughout the day to encourage participation for all and to create a fun family environment.
Independent activity, hobbies and day-to-day tasks can boost an individuals’ self-confidence and as part of our person-centered care, we adapt this each individual. Our homes take pride in arranging special activities including birthdays or special milestones, religious celebrations, national days of celebration and events.
The local communities support us in maintaining an active healthy lifestyle within each home and we develop relationships to promote socialising, mobility, interaction, independence and self-confidence.
Activities can be both indoors and outdoors and our patio areas and gardens are utilised as much as possible. We offer local and national day trips where possible for residents to enjoy within the community.
For residents who live with dementia or require support with their mental health, speech therapies are just one way in which we can provide assistance. Other mediums such as touch, sense, colours, music, animal interaction, and activities that encourage reminiscence memory can stimulate mental agility and provide positive outcomes for our residents.
Our food service has been designed to replicate a home setting. Food is specially selected to ensure residents receive the right balance of nutrients while still appeasing to the varied taste buds on offer. Every meal produced reflects individuals specific dietary needs according to care plans. It’s a cornerstone of our care policy and key to our person-centred approach. Besides the regular meal times, our food specialists regularly organise bespoke eating experiences, from outdoor BBQs to themed events. Dining experiences are also available for when visitors wish to eat private meals with their loved ones.
There are several options, including part and fully funded care. Prospective residents are advised to read our funding guide to understand the asset threshold requirements – this determines how much you are expected to pay. Residents can also access additional paid-for services including hairdressing, chiropody, opticians, daily reading material, and many more.
For residents wishing to upgrade their room experience to include dedicated internet service, movies on demand, private phone line/mobile, large flat screen (and more), speak to our Care Home Manager regarding the Gold Care Plus and Platinum room packages. We have a limited number of beds available for local authority funded clients, please contact the home directly for availability and a price list.
Emmanuel Torsoo has been working in the health and social care sector for many years and was first appointed as a registered manager in 2009. Emmanuel has been awarded the NVQ level 4 qualification, Registered Manager’s Award as well as a post-graduate certificate in management for health and social care. Emmanuel enjoys researching and sharing knowledge about new approaches in service provision to enable the home to achieve excellence in care.
