Peregrine House is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care support to 35 people who have dementia, mental health, physical disability or sensory impairment or the elderly. It is a purpose built home divided into four units on two floors. Each unit has residents’ rooms with toilet and sink facilities and communal areas including a sitting area, a dining room, a kitchenette and bathroom. Each resident benefits from unique, personalised care, designed to make their stay as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.
Peregrine House utilise Whzan Vital Signs and Observation system which was implemented to improve patient safety and outcomes, by calculating early warning scores, monitoring and analysing residents vital signs to identify deteriorating conditions and provide risk scores to trigger escalation pathways. The use of the system, has given confidence to a variety of bodies, including commissioners of care involved in the placement of vulnerable adults, prospective residents and their families. Peregrine House is now able to pro-actively support suitable clinical interventions and targeted care in a more efficient manner, enabling the team to concentrate on delivering excellence in care. As a result it was selected as a Finalist at the Care Home Awards 2022 in the category Best for Use of Technology and Digital Care Strategy.

An array of daily social activities are provided to keep residents active such as arts & crafts, baking & cooking, dancing and music, exercise and fitness classes, gardening and flower arranging, film nights and many more.
At every stage in life, maintaining your physical and mental health is important. A dedicated Activities Co-ordinator creates a daily activity program, in conjunction with residents requests and personal areas of interest. These can be scheduled throughout the day to encourage participation for all and to create a fun family environment.
Independent activity, hobbies and day-to-day tasks can boost an individuals’ self-confidence and as part of our person-centered care, we adapt this each individual. Our homes take pride in arranging special activities including birthdays or special milestones, religious celebrations, national days of celebration and events.
The local communities support us in maintaining an active healthy lifestyle within each home and we develop relationships to promote socialising, mobility, interaction, independence and self-confidence.
Activities can be both indoors and outdoors and our patio areas and gardens are utilised as much as possible. We offer local and national day trips where possible for residents to enjoy within the community.
Gold Care Homes maintain the highest standards of food safety and nutritional value through creating delicious and varied meals every day, whilst also providing for individual dietary needs. Residents are encouraged to eat and enjoy their meals in social dining areas and each home offers bespoke dining experiences, from outdoor BBQs to seasonal and themed events. There are a number of options, including part and fully funded care. Prospective residents are advised to read our funding guide to understand the asset threshold requirements – this determines how much you are expected to pay. Residents can also access additional paid-for services including hairdressing, chiropody, opticians, daily reading material, and many more.

Yvonne Smythe
Yvonne Smythe is Residential Care Home Manager, for Peregrine House. Yvonne’s biggest accomplishment is starting her career at Peregrine House as a Senior Night Care Worker in 1988, and with continuous development and training, progressing to Care Home Manager in 2006. Her legacy at the home will be her caring, leadership skills and her grand events with great food and dancing, which the residents always enjoy.
