Mulberry House Residential Home is our newest addition to the Buckland Care family, having opened its doors in July 2019. Newly renovated and interior designed throughout, this care home offers a blend of modern comfort and classic elegance.
Situated in a beautiful, rural Devon location, Mulberry House resides in the quaint town of Bovey Tracey, on the edge of Dartmoor. The tranquil setting provides a peaceful environment, perfect for relaxation and wellbeing. Many of the bedrooms boast stunning countryside views, allowing residents to enjoy the beauty of nature right from their windows.

WebsiteEmail Buckland CareAccommodation – Mulberry House offers 42 well-appointed bedrooms on the ground and first floors, all designed with accessibility in mind. Each room is wheelchair accessible and features an ensuite bathroom. Residents can choose from a variety of rooms, some with access to the terrace and others with picturesque views. Whether you prefer a peaceful retreat or a room at the heart of the community, we will find the perfect space for you. We also offer select, spacious suites that can comfortably accommodate couples.
The home is divided into several zones, blending original architectural features with new extensions to cater to both traditional and modern tastes. Amenities include a light and airy dining room and three distinct lounges:
– Dartmoor Library: A traditional, cosy lounge perfect for relaxing with a good book.
– Brimley Vale Tea Room: A bright, social lounge with a tea and coffee machine and fresh cakes daily, ideal for entertaining guests.
– The Aviary: A tranquil living room filled with foliage and calming green tones.
Mulberry House boasts extensive gardens with beautiful trees and flowers for residents to explore. The dining room leads out onto an accessible terrace where residents have planted sweet peas. Many rooms, including The Aviary, offer terrace access, ideal for al fresco dining on warm summer days.
Activities – Our carefully curated activities schedule ensures there’s something for everyone, with events every weekday and some weekends. We hold regular events to celebrate special occasions, encouraging relatives and friends to join. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for details! We also organize frequent outings to local areas of interest and trips into town in small groups for those who are able. If a resident has a special request for an outing or activity, we do our utmost to accommodate it.
Cuisine – Our kitchen team prepares fresh, delicious meals daily, including a variety of cakes. The menu is varied, balanced, and nutritious, with at least two hot choices at every mealtime. We accommodate all dietary requirements and adapt meals to meet each resident’s needs. If a resident has a special request, we strive to fulfil it.

Helen Hulme – Registered Manager
Helen has dedicated 30 years to the care sector, starting as a Care Assistant and advancing to her dream role as a Registered Manager, a title she earned 22 years ago. Her extensive experience includes positions such as Commissioning Manager, Intermediate and Reablement Manager. Helen has managed various homes, including those specialising in Nursing, Mental Health, Palliative Care, Dementia, and Residential care. After many years of hard work in London, Helen moved to Devon, where she enjoys spending time with her big family, which includes three sons, four grandchildren, and a rescue dog named Archie, who is adored by residents and staff at Mulberry House.
Kirsty Turner – Deputy Manager
Kirsty joined Buckland Care in December 2021 and quickly became an integral part of the team. With over 25 years of experience in the care industry, Kirsty has progressed from a Care Assistant to management. She holds a Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care and is currently pursuing her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Kirsty moved to Devon from Cornwall 21 years ago and lives locally with her husband, two children, and cats. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching true crime documentaries.
Claire Olliffe – Administrator
Claire joined Mulberry House in September 2019 after relocating from Surrey with her family. With 17 years of experience in administration and a passion for the care industry discovered in her previous role, Claire is a valuable asset to our team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, their two dogs, and exploring Dartmoor without getting lost.
