WebsiteEmail Buckland CareAccommodation – Our home features a delightful, landscaped garden with a charming allotment area that residents can tend to if they wish. Our welcoming 48-bed residence offers mainly ensuite bedrooms to provide the privacy our residents desire. We have recently added an extension with luxury rooms, some of which include ensuite shower rooms. The communal areas are plentiful, including a newly extended dining room, a residents’ bar, and bright, comfortable lounges.
Activities – Our home’s proximity to town makes it easy for residents to enjoy trips to the Old Town Gardens with members of staff. We offer a varied timetable of daily activities designed to stimulate the mind and body, including a gardening club, arts and crafts sessions, and baking classes.
Cuisine – Our meals are freshly prepared daily by our talented chefs and frequently receive compliments from residents and visitors alike. Full of flavour and adapted to meet every resident’s needs, our dishes are varied and interesting, making every mealtime an event to look forward to.

Julie Beale – Registered Manager
Julie originally trained as a nurse in Surrey before moving back to Swindon in 1987 after meeting her husband. She has over 30 years of nursing experience, with the past 20 years spent in care homes as a nurse, clinical lead, deputy manager, and manager. Julie holds numerous qualifications, including RN2, Mentor – Northampton University, NVQ Assessor, and Leadership and Management Level 5. Her passion lies in elderly care, particularly in dementia and end-of-life care. Julie maintains an open and honest approach, always putting residents first and showing compassion to both residents and their families. She firmly believes that The Orchards is the residents’ home and operates an ‘open door policy.’ In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dogs, and reading.
Annique Mccaw – Deputy Manager
Annique joined Buckland Care as a Team Leader in April 2022 and quickly progressed to Deputy Manager. With over 16 years of experience in care, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, making her an invaluable asset. Annique is currently working towards her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, having already achieved a Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the gym and bike rides with her family.
Sharon Searle – Administrator
Sharon, an experienced administrator, joined The Orchards in March 2023. With a career spanning multiple decades, she has held various positions in administration and bookkeeping. Sharon finds her tenure at The Orchards to be her most enjoyable and rewarding work experience yet. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and two beloved Whippets. An avid fan of outdoor adventures, Sharon takes every opportunity to enjoy good weather and frequently embarks on weekend getaways in her campervan.
